FAQ's

Q: Is the M1stang a kit-car?

A: Not in the traditional way a kit-car is made to bolt together or body panels are glued in place over a donor car. However the M1 has been in Kit Car Builder magazine as it is a custom made auto.

Q: Is it fiberglass?

A: No it is made from all steel original body parts however in the future the hood may be made of fiberglass.

Q: How many Mustangs did you cut up to make the M1?

A: CURSE THE THOUGHT! None. The M1 from bumper to bumper is made from all new panels just as if you where restoring a Mustang.

Q: Do you put the body panels over the Miata panels?

A: No. The Miata outside body panels are removed including the door skin and then the new panels are shortened and welded or bolted to the chassis.

Q: Is the convertible top custom?

A: No. The top and interior are all stock Mazda including the doors and we offer custom leather interiors and dress up kits.

Q: What then is an M1 kit?

A: I will install the body on your car and have the car street legal and then you take over. This would include finish body work and painting. Then you can customize with wheels, exhaust, engine mods, interior etc. Make it how you like it. After all it’s not a Mustang.

Q: What year Miata can be used?

A: 1990-2005   The 1994 to 1997 are the best as they have a bigger engine, rear end and brakes. They are also affordable at about 3000.00 to 7000.00 dollars.

Q: Can I install a V8?

A: Yes you can but due to legal reasons I don’t. Not that we haven’t done it or might not in the future but for now we like the flexibility and handling of the original drive train.

Q: What about more horsepower?

A: You name it. Designed to be raced you can go to 250 rear wheel horsepower; however you are not emissions legal at that point. You can get about 170 horsepower rear wheel from turbo charging and still be legal. My wife Debbie likes the supercharger with about 170 brake horsepower. There’s that “CHICK” thing again. I am looking forward to installing the new Fly’n Miata  turbo to bring the horsepower up a bit more.

Q: How many can you make a year?

A: With custom coachwork like this it’s not how many can you build but how many will you build. With the time and patience needed to build a car I feel maybe four or five cars a year.

Q: Why?

A: Some people ask why? Others dream and think why not!
